Uzosike World Outreach Ministries [UWOM]

In Nigeria the church is responsible for the health and welfare of its members. There is no state welfare, no WIC cards, food stamps, Medicaid or any type of aid available to the indigent. In many cases people join the church just so they can get free food and free medical care. Uzosike World Outreach Ministries (UWOM) includes a network of 19 churches, the majority of them in extremely indigent areas of Nigeria. The organization regularly runs free medical missions outreach crusades dispensing medical care, drugs, prayers and healing ministry to the people. Many of these people have lived their entire lives without basic preventive medical care such as blood pressure check, well woman care, or immunizations. It is quite common for a woman to show up at an outreach event seeking medical care for the very first time and is already in the last stages of breast cancer with no option beyond palliative care for the remainder of her life.

UWOM s’ vision is to provide permanent access to free medical care and basic services as well as vision and dental care in the local communities. To support this vision the organization is building a mission center that includes a 50-bed hospital, a primary school, a church and a parsonage. There is a severe need for many more of these centers as well as widows' centers and housing for visiting missionaries to staff them.

We recognize there are many churches and religious organizations, as well as private and corporate entities world-wide that are willing and able to do foreign missions but lack the knowledge, skills, expertise, staff and/or organizational skills to launch an effective foreign outreach. The UWOM Foundation will provide an avenue for them to get involved physically, spiritually, and financially to support the work of Uzosike World Outreach Ministries in the following ways:

•Partner with Uzosike World Outreach Ministries to support the current outreach efforts, to furnish and support the mission center currently under construction, and to build, furnish and support additional mission centers in remote areas of Nigeria.

•Send volunteer medical missionary teams and health care professionals to participate in free medical missions outreach crusades dispensing medical care, drugs, prayers and healing ministry to the people in remote areas of Nigeria.

•Staff the mission center with volunteers aligned to go to Nigeria for a one-month tour each year. Each center to have 12 teams scheduled each year with overlapping weeks so teams can “pass the baton” to the next team and the centers are always staffed.

•Organize clergy teams, social workers and administrative volunteers to minister to the spiritual and social needs of the beneficiaries as they come for medical care.

•Organize skilled laborers, craftsmen and artisans to teach their arts and crafts to the local population, with a particular focus on the widows, to provide them with tools to produce an income to support themselves and their families.

•Provide food and clothing for the widows and their children until they become self-supporting

Uzosike World Outreach Ministries aims at sharing the love of God to others by reaching out with free medical treatment to those who cannot afford it. This has proven to be a very effective tool for evangelism and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ as souls are won in the process.

Medical Missions Outreach

On Saturday August 27, 2016 God’s Battle Axe, Bishop Victor Uzosike, led the Medical Missions Outreach of the Kingdom Life Gospel Church and Uzosike World Outreach. in conjunction with a team of foreign medical missionaries from the United States with free medical supplies and healthcare to the village of Umueleagwa – Onicha, Ezinihitte, Mbaise in Imo State Nigeria.

The foreign Missionaries  were led by Evangelist Professor Tamara Otey, a long standing medical missionary from the Church of God in Christ (COGIC) ‘Temple of Deliverance’, MemphisTennessee.

The eagerly expectant villagers welcomed the Bishop and his entourage with canon shots, traditional music and festivities as over Thousands of people converged to give them a grand reception at the town square (the reception also doubled as the community’s formal hosting of His Lordship Uzosike since his ordination as a Bishop). In his welcome speech, the Secretary of the Council-of-Chiefs of the community thanked Bishop Uzosike (who is a son of Umueleagwa) for making the community a constant beneficiary of the free medical missions outreach, and commented that the drugs they dispensed to the people in their previous medical outreaches had done wonders for the people.

In the words of the spokesperson, “You are indeed a blessing to this community. And since we don’t have any medical hospital in the community, we will not fail to act like Oliver Twist, and ask for more. We hereby donate a parcel of land to you for the building of a missionary clinic, so that the free medical treatment and medicines will be permanent here in Umueleagwa”.

In his response, His Lordship thanked the community for the plot of land, while charging the people to live in love. Reading from 1John 4:18, Bishop Uzosike told the people that perfect love casts out fear. He said this love is the love that made Jesus to come down to earth to die for humanity.

“God can give you anything you don’t have”, declared God’s Battle Axe, “But you must operate in love”.

He led the community in a prayer of forgiveness – forgiving all those that might have offended them – and the prayer of salvation. He also went ahead to pray against untimely death in the community, and concluded with a prayer of peace and progress for the community; afterwards he blessed the land.

In all there were about 25 medical personnel in the Bishop’s entourage, and they did free blood-sugar and blood pressure tests, ran eye and dental clinics that gave out free reading glasses and aural health materials, gave general Medicare and dispensed free drugs to the people of Umueleagwa and their neighbouring communities. Free Bibles and tracts were also given to the people; while the Widows Ministry of the Outreach gave out foodstuffs, footwears, clothes and other gifts of love to widows, children and aged women in the area.

The next day, August 28, 2016, the Medical Missions stormed the Rumueme Community in Obio/Akpor LGA of Rivers State, which is the home of the International headquarters of Kingdom Life Gospel Church ‘Jesus Cathedral’, where they did the same thing they did in Umueleagwa for the people of Rumueme and its environs.

The aim of the free medical missions is part of the Outreach arm of the KLGC and it aims at sharing the love of God to others by reaching out with free medical treatment to those who can’t afford it (especially those in the hinterlands). It is also a means of evangelism and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ, as souls are won in the process. The souls won in Umueleagwa for instance were directed to Pentecostal and living churches in the area, while those won in Rumueme were readily absorbed into the Kingdom Life Gospel Church or directed to Bible-believing churches near them.
